Diabetes is a persistent condition marked by elevated blood sugar levels, resulting from either a shortage or ineffectiveness of insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas. Insulin’s role is to regulate blood sugar levels, and its insufficiency causes glucose to accumulate in the blood, leading to various health problems.

Diabetes primarily manifests in two forms: Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 diabetes is commonly identified in children or young adults and is caused by the immune system attacking the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. In contrast, Type 2 diabetes is more prevalent, typically affecting adults, and is strongly linked to an unhealthy lifestyle, including obesity and lack of physical activity. Managing diabetes involves maintaining blood sugar levels through a balanced diet and regular physical activity, which is essential for preventing complications associated with the disease.
